There are many cases in which you might want to transport your motorcycle somewhere rather than simply ride it there. This could be because you are taking your motorcycle to a show and want it to arrive in pristine condition, or it could simply be that your bike is an off-road model that isn’t street legal. Whatever your reasons, this guide from District Harley-Davidson® will give you some options on how to safely transport your motorcycle.

Pickup Trucks

Pickup trucks are one of the most common methods of transporting a motorcycle due to them being very common and usually able to handle the weight with ease. The most difficult part is usually finding a way to get the motorcycle into the truck’s bed, though this can be solved by simply walking the bike up a ramp. Don’t forget to secure the motorcycle! You can also use a tarp to give your bike a layer of protection against the elements. If you’re hauling more than just your motorcycle, you may need to check the pickup truck’s GVWR. 

Trailers

Trailers provide another easy method of transporting motorcycles. You can even purchase a trailer built specifically to transport motorcycles, though any trailer with enough weight capacity will do as long as you secure your bike. Enclosed trailers like cargo trailers and toy haulers will provide your motorcycle with extra protection, though you can always just use a tarp. 

Transport Services

Another way to transport your motorcycle is by hiring a transportation service. Some transportation services actually specialize in transporting motorcycles. These kinds of services usually offer some form of insurance, which can provide motorcycle owners who are worried about their bike getting damaged with some peace of mind.
